Both fans and media were kept safely away from the castle. Strict police checkpoints were present to prevent anyone unauthorised from getting too close, with journalists being stationed in the town square nearby.

The wedding ceremony brought the pair’s nineteen month romance full circle. Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman and country singer Keith Urban tied the knot late in the sunny afternoon of 25th July 2006, Australian standard time, in the beautiful beachside suburb of Manly.

The couple’s wedding took place in a traditional Catholic ceremony in the sandstone Cardinal Chapel on the grounds of the Saint Patrick’s Seminary.

The pealing of the wedding bells signalled the couple had now become husband and wife. They later issued an official portrait with a brief statement thanking everyone in Australia and elsewhere who had sent them their warm wishes.

The couple honeymooned in Tahiti.

If one wedding is good, then two have to be spectacular. The first ceremony to unite the couple was held in Las Vegas, a small event with only a handful of witnesses. Not quite for the second one, a grand event with just over 200 guests, apart from the many hundred fans outside. Held in the old San Juan Cathedral, the event was a truly traditional ceremony that included the couple’s son.

At the 2002 ceremony, Torrest wore and an Acra buchesse gown beautifully down dotted with a couple of seed pearls, glistening with stunning Swarovski crystals. Completing the look was a tulle veil.

And from the church, the many wedding guests walked down San Juan’s cobblestones streets to Cuartel Ballaja which was a historic militarty barrack dating back to the nineteenth century. The site was beautifully decorated with a huge cocktail tent, a dinner tent as well as a dance tent inspired by the Moroccan dance.

The wedding reception was a fine musical event so no surprise with guests like Lowie D from Backstreet Boys and Lance Bass from N’Sync. As a special moment, the couple’s son joined them at the altar.

Ms Carey and Sony Music President Mottola who took her from complete obscurity to stardom with such big hit singles as Vision of Love, Some day and I’ll Be There, Love Takes Time, exchanged vows during nuptials at the famous Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, Manhattan.

The couple met in 1998 when the then 18 year old Mariah slipped the music mogul her demo tape at a private party. Rumour has it that on his way home in a limo, Mottola popped in the tape and upon hearing Mariah’s 5 octave range, ordered the chauffeur to turn around and return to the party.

He was the mastermind of her rise to absolute stardom, including 2 Grammy awards in her first year as an artist in 1990. And as her singing career blossomed, so did their affection and love for each other.

At the lavish wedding, the bride was resplendent, gliding down the aisle in a jewelled bodice gown with a 28-foot-long train which required 6 women to carry it. A dazzling tiara becked with a tumbling veil created the crowning touch.

And on hand for the nuptials were David Dinkins, the then New York Mayor, singer Barbra Streisand, actor Robert DeNiro, Darryl Hall, Michael Bolton, Billy Joel, Toney Bennett and model Cristie Brinkley.

The drizzle falling outside could not put a damper on the guests and 300 other fans lining the street across to catch a glimpse of the music diva and the record giant boss. They were absolutely thrilled when she tossed her lovely bouquet into the huge crowd while leaving the church after the 40 minute ceremony.

A formal reception was held at the famous Metropolitan Club a couple of blocks away. In a massive filled with red roses, 300 or so revellers feasted on grilled shripm and spicy chicken with herbs. The couple could barely hide their joy as they sensationally sliced into a 6 tier cake at the end of the party.

Following their lavish wedding, the newlyweds honeymooned in romantic Florida.

Hollywood star Ashley Judd met race driver Dario Franchitti at a private wedding reception back in 1999. Whether it’s fate or foreshadowing, the pair wed two years later in 2001 at Skibo Castle in Dario’s native Scotland.

Judd has since been a regular in the Indy circuit pit and has even competed in a couple of celebrity races. Although she’s very well known for her acting and being part of one of the country’s most famous families and he’s won major titles, the couple always keep a low profile whenever they take time off work.

On 29th July 2000, Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt married his long love interest Jennifer Aniston. The nuptials took place place in TV producer Marcy Carsey’s Milibu property.

As the sun sunk low in the beautiful Californian sky, 200 or so guests witnessed as John Aniston, well known for his work on TV programme Days of Our Lives, walked his lovely daughter down the aisle. Perfectly shielded by a huge flowe bedecked canopy, the couple were able to exchange their vows in a rather intimate ceremony away from the paparazzi lurking by.

Jennifer’s famous tresses, drapped over US designer Lawrence Steele’s white silk gown, studded in a handful of pearls. And dainty bows perfectly accented her Manolo Suede sandals. The 2 bridemaids wore green silk slip dresses, while the best men were nicely dressed in Prada suits. The groom chose the very same designer, who had previously dressed him for the Oscars, Hedi Slimane and for his wedding ensemble.

As for wedding rings, they were as unique as their relationshi. The gorgeous groom himself was the designer of the sleek, matching gold bands bedecked with small diamonds that were embedded along the side of the rings.

Finally, fireworks illuminated the night sky to the ultimate delight of many fellow celebrities including Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, the cast of Friends. During a huge meal of fine lobster and champagne, guests were entertained with a range of music, from a gospel choir to the rock sounds of Melissa Etheridge, belting out Led Zepellin’s Whole Lotta Love.

A dozen bridesmaids preceded down the aisle before Tori Spelling took her dad’s arm for their walk to a nice gazebo decorated with white roses and magnolias where underneath the groom waited for his bride. About four hundred guests from Tinsel Town, past and present, including Ed McMahon, Bob Newhart, Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Tiffani Thiessen, Ian Ziering watched the exchange of vows under a sky bedecked with white balloons used both for aesthetics and to prevent the paparazzi from intruding.

Tori took her cue from the flapper era, working closely with designer Badgley Mischka to creat her white gown adorned with lovely beadwork hand-sewn in South Asia - the signature look for the world renowned designer label. The beads’ sparkle was rivalled only by the shimmering diamonds and platinum in Tori’s 3 carat drop earrings, her gold bracelet and flower parrerned head band attached to a long veil.

Family and friends gathered to enjoy a fine performance by Mike Feinstein before dining on artichoke ravioli and their own choice of either fish or lamb, all professionally prepared by household chef Wolfgang Puck, who also happened to concoct a lemon souffle for dessert.

Before they left, guests received a silver champagne bottle etched with the names of both the groom and bride, who then offered the presents as a token of genuine appreciation for those helping to make their day absolutely memorable.
