The couple came to the historic city of Jodhpur in the desert state of Rajasthan to wrap up a week of lavish parties and wedding celebrations in India. Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar came to India after a civil marriage between the two last week in a castle in England. The 42-year-old Nayar and his 41-year-old wife, Hurley, enjoyed lavish celebrations and a rich pageantry as they moved between various palaces and an ancient hilltop fort near Jodhpur.

The couple flew all the way to the historic city of Jodhpur in Rajistan to wrap up days of lavish parties and wedding celebrations. Arun Nayar and Liz Hurley came to India after a civil marriage in a castle in England. The couple truly enjoyed lavish celebrations as they moved between the many various places and a historic hilltop fort near Jodhpur.

It was a traditional Indian wedding in every single sense of the world. An anonymous Hindu priest performed Hindu rituals with the couple walking a holy fire seven times. Indian designer Rohit Bal also leaked to the press that Elizabeth wore a white ‘chunni’ and ‘lehanga’, a embroidered blouse and skirt used in traditional Indian weddings.

The wedding ceremony was expected to last for roughly an hour, and was to be followed up by a procession of elephants, horses and camels, all elegantly decorated for the festivities. The procession paraded through the grounds of the Umaid Bhavan Palace, a massive sandstone domed luxury hotel. The wedding party was then scheduled to move to the Mehrangarh Fort, overlooking Jodhpur’s old blue city for a nighttime, moonlet celebration. Roughly 250 guests were invited to Jodhpur to partake in the wedding party.

With the wedding celebrations migrating from venue to venue, the security in Jodhpur was intense. Roads between the various celebration locations were cordoned off, and 50 guards were flown in from London to augment the Indian security force. But while Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar were engaging in their wedding celebrations, local residents of Jodhpur were bemused by all the attention.
