Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones at their New York wedding

The Welsh dragon brightly fluttered alongside the Hollywood couple and stripes above the main hotel entrance with the wedding feast featuring traditional Welsh lamb.

Michael’s best man was his 21 year old son Cameron. Also witnessing the ceremony was the couple’s 3 month old son who predictably spent most of the event asleep.

The wedding ring came from a local family jeweller in Aberystwyth. A private party of 30 or so family and mates included Catherine’s mum, Pat and her dad, Dai, a retired sweet salesperson. Her grandmother, who gave her the name Zeta, was also flown to New York City, though the then 85 year old was still recovering from 2 recent haret operations.

The family rubbed shoulders with Michael’s father, 83 year old veteran actor Kirk, as well as film stars, Jack Nicholson, Sir Sean Connery, Sir Michael Caine, Sharon Stone, Danny DeVito and Christopher Reeve.
Upon his arrival, Mr Douglas senior gave the marriage his blessing.

I would marry her myself but my wife won’t let me. – Mr Douglas senior
