Heather and Paul met at a London charity event in May, 1999. Paul proposed on bended knee on July 23, 2001 at England’s Lake District at the Sharrow Bay County House Hotel.
After announcing their engagement on July 26, 2001, Heather lost her $21,000 diamond and sapphire engagement ring. It was later found on a golf course.
Their wedding ceremony was held in St. Salvator’s Church at the 17th-century Castle Leslie, in Glaslough, Ireland. The officiant on the 1,000-acre estate was the Venerable Cecil Pringle, Archdeacon of Clogher. Paul’s brother Mike McCartney was the best man. Their wedding reportedly cost $3.2 million.

Heather strolled down the aisle to Heather written for her by Paul. The couple then processed out of the churching to a beautiful wedding march Paul wrote in 1966 for the Family Way.
The huge reception feast included fine Indian veggie dishes with vintage champagne, flowers from the Netherlands, black Guinness stout, a cabin cruiser and fireworks. There were also double rainbows
Among the 300 or so guests were Adrian Mitchell, Ringo Star, David Gilmour, Sir George Martin, Jools Holland, Twiggy and Steve Buscemi. Monica Seles, Aidan Quinn, Chrissie Hynde and Paul’s children were also in attendance.
